Welcome to Children’s Focus where culture, the arts and families connect!

New York is turning green, pink and white cherry blossoms are decorating the streets, and signs of spring are everywhere in spite of fickle weather. Each season brings new adventure. For those of us with green thumbs there are gardens to tend. It is wonderful to see how urban farming is catching on in a big way. There are community gardens peaking out all over the city. People are also growing things on terraces and windowsills. Then there are bigger projects like the Brooklyn Grange. The Brooklyn Grange is one of the world’s largest rooftop soil farms offering organic veggies to markets in the city. Who would have known a few years ago that New York would be leading a movement in urban farming. I am hoping this year to finally get a peak at this ambitious project, and be inspired to create a terrace garden with the children. Read more about their story or learn how they got started in their video below.
